How do I check my system compatibility?

Test your computer system compatibility with Adobe Connect Pro well in advance of a program start time to ensure you can gain access to your Webinar meeting room or eLearning program. Please follow these steps:

a. Click on the following link,, to enter a test meeting room.  If you are able to enter the room and see the slide showing that you’ve passed the system compatibility test, then you will be able to access your Webinar or eLearning program.

b.  If you are not able to open the test room, click here to see where the connection is failing.  This link automatically starts a system diagnostic test. If the test does not start automatically, refresh your browser. The test passes when you see all four check marks, at which point you may access your program.

If the system diagnostic test fails, email the following message to your IT department to resolve your connection issues: “The programs provided by Tyco Fire Protection Products contain videos which are sometimes blocked by IT departments. To correct this issue, white list the connection test IP, Please email with any questions or concerns.”

Is the training that is provided by Tyco specific to Tyco?

Some programs are Tyco specific, such as distributor certification training. However, we offer many programs that are general in nature and the knowledge gained from participating in these programs can be applied industry wide.

What is a CEU / CPD Point?

What is a CEU?

A CEU (continuing education unit) is a measurement used to quantify continuing adult education and training activities.   In general, 1 hour of training = 0.1 CEUs.
Since TFPP is an authorized provider of CEUs, what does this mean to me?

"Tyco Fire Protection Products has been accredited as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).  In obtaining this accreditation, the Tyco Fire Protection Products has demonstrated that it  complies with the ANSI/IACET Standard which is recognized internationally as a standard of good practice. As a result of their Authorized Provider status, Tyco Fire Protection Products is authorized to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET Standard.”

Which TFPP programs are eligible for CEUs?
The Americas TFPP training programs, if educational in content, offer CEUs. The number of CEUs per program is calculated according to the number of instructional hours within the training program.
How do I obtain the CEUs?
At the end of a program that offers CEUs, you will be given the opportunity to complete an assessment. A score of 70% or higher must be reached in order to earn the CEUs. You will have three chances to pass the final assessment.  If you do not pass the final assessment after your third try, you will have to repurchase the program and pass the final assessment.  Upon completion, you will obtain CEUs, which will be shown on the Training Certificate that you must print or save on your computer for your records.  CEUs also count as general contact hours. For every 0.1 Continuing Education Unit, you will receive one contact hour.
Who is the target audience?
The target audience is quite broad. Essentially, members of any professional organization will need to maintain a certain level of continuing education. With our IACET accreditation, TFPP can help all of these members meet their minimum continuing education requirements.
What is a contact hour or CPD point?
A contact hour is a generic term representing the number of hours in a training activity. Contact hours are accepted by many organizations; however, they do not necessitate a rigorous evaluation of the programs they are tied to.  While CEUs count as general contact hours, contact hours do not count as CEUs.  In general, 1 hour of training = 1.0 contact hour.
A CPD point stands for Continuing Professional Development point which is the term NICET uses for contact hours.
Which organizations accept CEUs and/or contact hours?
Various organizations accept contact hours while others require CEUs. While we can confirm that NICET accepts CEUs and contact hours, which they refer to as Continuing Professional Development points, we do not maintain a list of organizations which accept CEUs or contact hours. To be certain that you obtain the type of continuing education that you need, please check with your organization to verify if you need CEUs or contact hours.

What is the difference between Webinars and E-Learning?

E-Learning is online training that you view and participate in at your convenience and at your own pace.

Webinars are scheduled online training sessions that are presented by a live trainer. The trainee must log in at a specified time in order to participate in a webinar.

How do I access the audio portion of a Webinar?

You will need a telephone to access the audio portion of a webinar.  You can find your dial in numbers in your vCal (from your Invoice Receipt) or in the meeting room itself.  Currently, computer-based listening, VOIP, is not available.
